Phelps & DelGuidice Family Space!!!Welcome to our World! ~Update on my dad~Plea Bargain Accepted
for the assault against my dad
Finally, after many continuances, the kid who brutally attacked my father accepted the plea bargain offered by the prosecuting attorney. As most of you know, the 1 year anniversary of my dad's attack is nearing on April 13th. My dad almost lost his life due to the selfless acts of a twisted 22year old. We thought the case was going to go to trial and then to our surprise he accepted the plea bargain. So, here it is.....40 yr sentence, 30 suspended, 1year already served, 1-1/2 years off for 1st offense, so basically 7-1/2 more years to serve. Probation for the rest of his life, meaning any other mess ups then he will get that 30 years that was suspended. Restitution payable to my dad in the amount of $100,000 in payments monthly after he serves his sentence.
So, I am happy with this as long as my dad is and he seems content. Almost everyone is certain that this kid will do something to mess up again and serve a longer sentence. As for now, we are all eternally grateful that my father survived this mess and even though his quality of life will never be the same, he has overcome so much and will try his best to enjoy the life he has. One thing for sure is that my dad is a survivor and the strength he has is astonishing. He loves life and his family and he too is glad to be here. LOVE YOU DAD!!!!!!!!
~Happy 12th b-day Lex~Happy Birthday Lexi
This year Alexis decided to have some friends spend the night and she got to pick a restaurant to take her friends to. She decided on Famous Dave's because she loves barbeque! We then brought her friends back to our house and had cake and ice cream. Family came over then to join us in celebrating the big day. Lex and her friends then watched movies and had a sleepover. Happy 12th Lex......We love you :)

~Beach Bums~Pismo Beach
The last time we went to Pismo was 5 years ago, shortly after we arrived in California. During that first trip we were all told to get out of the water due to a shark sighting! Lucky for us, no shark sightings this time. Actually, the girls were still away in Virginia for the summer, so we just took the boys for a couple days. Much to our surprise it was very windy and chilli. We had to buy long sleeved shirts while we were there! Kalem loved boogie boarding as Brylan loved playing in the sand and running from the waves. Overall, we had a nice family trip to the beach. Only thing missing was the girls ~A Day at the Lake~A Day at Lake Buena Vista
We went to the lake with some friends for the day. None of us had ever rode on jetskii's before, so we all took a try at it. Brylan loved it, Kalem was a little scared, and I actually threw Scott off while I was driving ! It was alot of fun and the kids really had a great time : ) ~Scott's 30~5/14/08

~Benefits for my dad~5/24 & 5/26
My father has such a strong support system that it's unbelieveable. Word of his attack spread quickly through the community, and it wasn't long before a newspaper article was put out, and his friends were planning benefits to help with his extensive Medical bills. We had a website put together to explain what happened in order to help with the many calls we were recieving daily. The website is listed below, and it has given friends and family somewhere to go as sort of a tribute to my father.
Many people have asked, "Where is the kid who did this?" Well, I am happy to say that he is in jail after running for the first 10 days. At his bond hearing, the judge denied bail. There is an extensive trial ahead of us that will begin in July, but at least for now, this kid is off the streets. We have so much to be thankful for, but most of all, my father is alive and survived this awful attack. I stayed with him until 5/25, and it broke my heart to leave him after almost losing him. The whole DelMonte family came together through this and we all were there for my father. The reality is that although he has challenges to face, he is ok now and my Aunt Betty & Uncle Greg whom he is staying with are great. My children needed me to come home, and my dad was well taken care of, so I decided to come home in time for Mad & Kalem's B-day's. I have to commend my husband Scott for staying with all the kids in Bakersfield for 5 weeks, while I left to care for my father. Please check out the pictures that show how loved my dad is!

~Girls day out~A Day with my Girls
I decided to take a day off work so that I could spend one day during Spring Break with the girls. Back in February, I started a new job and the girls have been very vocal about how they don't get to see me that much anymore. It breaks my heart not to be home more, but with such a big family, I have to work more. We went to lunch, went to a movie (College Road Trip), and ended the afternoon by going shopping at the mall. It was really nice to just relax and hang out with my daughters that are growing up way too fast. It was an exciting day for all of us

~Sports~Where do I start?
Alyssa has been on 5 soccer teams during the 07-08 seasons! Back in August, she started off with her club Team the Evolution, which Scott coached. This is our first year doing club, and Alyssa wanted to take soccer to the next level, so we did. Scott coached this team to the end of the regular season, but then things just weren't working out with that team. She then decided to try out for a U-13 Brigade Coast League. She made that club team and she fit in perfect. That team made it to the State Cup which was in Lancaster this year. They made it to the final 8 teams out of 120 teams statewide. They did awesome and we were happy for them to make it that far. She also played on a regular season AYSO team, and a Spring Select AYSO team. She also made her Middle School soccer team which about 100 people tried out and she was one of the few 7th graders that made it. Let's put it this way, this child LOVES soccer. We would never make her play, she does all of this because of her love for the game. She wants to take it all the way to College and we will be supporting her the whole way. Alyssa just tried out for the U-14 Gunners Coast League and she will play on that club team for the 08-09 season.
Alexis played soccer in the fall, and is in the Choir at school. She was selected for the Pentathalon at school and has started practicing for that. She is also getting ready to start Gymnastics in a couple of weeks.
Madison also played soccer in the fall, but she also made the track team at Eissler. She was the only 3rd grader that made the team. She just had the regional meet last week and she did awesome. Madison just started softball earlier this month and their opening day is the last weekend of this month. She really likes it and it's great that she can have something of her own to get her "individual" attention.
Kalem is going strong with Baseball. He is by far the biggest kid on the team and an excellent batter. He does awesome. It took him a few seasons to get it down, but now he is a great asset to his team.
Scott is still going strong with his indoor soccer team. He has games every Saturday evening. Occasionally he will play in a tournament, like the last one which was a 30 and over team! Boy was that a reality check! I can't wait until he turns 30 so that I can tease him like he does me! Scott also plays basketball on Thursdays nights up at the church with his brothers.
