~Big Boy~Brylan starts Preschool
8/27/07
How exciting, yet sad. My ittle boy is growing up and it was time for him to take the next step, going to pre-school. After visiting a few centers, I decided to go ahead and put him in pre-school this year. Here in California, they take them at 2 years old, and they don't have to be potty trained. Of course we are working on the potty training, but it's gonna take a while. My classes start up on the 27th, so I decided to make that his first day. We visited and met with his teachers before the first day, but actually having to leave him there was so hard. I had Scott go with me the first day because I knew I would have a hard time leaving him. As I tried to sneak away while he was on the playground, he kept looking behind to see if I were still there. Finally, we snuck away and left the building. As we were walking to the car, Scott decided to hide behind a pillar and watch Brylan for a few minutes. Next thing you know, we were both hiding behind the pillars spying on our little boy. It was so funny looking back. He was looking for us, but no tears and he just kept playing. He was on my mind constantly throughout the day making it hard to concentrate. Finally, it was time to pick him up and he was so happy to see me. His teachers said he had a great day, and even took a nap with the other kids. I was glad to hear that he hadn't hit any of the other kids, or threw anything:) I am finding solace in knowing that this is good for him and that he needs to be around other kids his age. This is just another journey that is part of him growing up to be a big boy. It helps that at the end of each day his teachers fill out a paper telling me what his mood was, what he ate, and how long his nap was. He is doing great and I guess I just need to sit back and let him grow up a little. That is so hard.
~Happy Anniversary~Scott & Christin's 3rd Wedding Anniversary
I just wanted to take the time to recognize our 3rd wedding anniversary. This year is our 5th year together and 3rd year of marriage. We've had our ups and downs as every couple has, but all in all we have come a long way and made many accomplishments together. Our greatest achievement to date would be our precious little boy whom we both adore. I just wanted to take the time to tell everyone how much I love not only Scott, but the family we have made together
~Grandma & Grandpa's 50th Anniversary~Visiting Oregon
To start, the girls made it home safely after visiting their family back East for the summer. I let them decide the day they wanted to come home and they chose August the 8th. They had the option of staying in Virginia for an extra week, or coming home in time to go to Oregon to attend Grandma & Grandpa Alberts 50th wedding anniversary. Since they haven't yet gone to Oregon with us, they decided to come home early and go with us. It was also our week to have Kalem, so he was able to go. I think this was the first time we took such a long trip with all 5 of the kids! Scott likes driving at night, so we left around 1am on the 10th and drove straight through while the kids were sleeping. Unfortunately, I wasn't much help as I was sound asleep myself:) It is about an 8 hour drive to Grants Pass where his grandparents live. We made it there safely and checked into a hotel for that night since the party was a surprise and we didn't want them to know we were in town. It just so happened that the 10th was also my birthday, so we went out to dinner that evening for my b-day as well. The next day we went to the surprise party and had a great time. The look of shock on their faces was priceless. They were so happy to see all of us. We also got to visit with baby Alex our newest addition to the family. Alex is Katie's little boy, mine and Scott's nephew, and the girls cousin. He is just adorable. All in all we had a great trip and it was so nice to see everyone up in Oregon. |
